The next iteration of the CAF Champions League, which will take place in 2022–2023, has entered the group stage.
The dates have been set, the clubs have made preparations, and now it’s time to look at how things are going right now.
On December 12, 2022, in Cairo, Egypt, with just 16 clubs still active in the struggle, four groups of four were each given a place to defend on that day.
“I will be the first to acknowledge that I do not anticipate there to be a great deal of excitement during the quarterfinal knockout round when the top two teams from each group will advance,” the president of CAF, Dr Patrice Motsepe, said.
“First, we will announce the four groups that will compete in the CAF Champions League, and then we will provide the calendar for each round of the group stage.”
